Launched in the 2023/24 season, Crescendo is NYYS’s newest ensemble. It was formed in response to the need to serve more students from the five boroughs of New York City. With its 100% fee-free program, Crescendo has created another path for younger, motivated students to join the NYYS program.
Crescendo Orchestra focuses on the works of underrepresented composers, including women and people of color – opening the minds of these musicians making a more inclusive and thoughtful repertoire. There will be two concerts this season at Merkin Hall at The Kaufman Center and Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall.
Come support our young musicians and be in the audience when they perform.

As Ensemble-in-Residence, Aizuri Quartet will run four sectionals during the season – two for each concert cycle. The Quartet will also be performing Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro with the orchestra at Zankel Hall on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 3PM.
The Aizuri Quartet view the string quartet as a living art and springboard for community, collaboration, curiosity and experimentation. At the core of their music-making is a virtuosic ability to illuminate a vast range of musical styles through their eclectic, engaging and thought-provoking programs.
