Tamaki Kawakubo

Grand Prize Winner of the 2001 Pablo Sarasate and Winner of the 2002 Tchaikovsky Competition, violinist Tamaki Kawakubo started violin at the age of five in Los Angeles, CA.

Miss Kawakubo’s 2009, 2010 seasons included engagements and tours with the Russian National Orchestra, Moscow Radio Symphony, NHK Chamber, Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra, a Germany tour with Sinfonia Varsovia, amongst many others.

Winner of the Avery Fisher career Grant and S&R Foundation in Washington D.C., Miss Kawakubo has performed numerous recitals in Japan, Spain, Germany, Israel, and gave her Kennedy Center Recital Debut in 2009.

Her 2010, 2011 engagements include concerts with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony in Vietnam, Dresden Philharmonic, Tel Aviv Chamber Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic, Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra,and recitals in the United States.

In recent years, Miss Kawakubo has been active in chamber music, performing in a piano trio in Japan and in a string trio, piano quartet in Europe. 2010, 2011 seasons will include concerts in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Tokyo, and other cities in Japan.

Miss Kawakubo studied with Prof. Robert Lipsett at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, Prof. Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki at Juilliard Pre-College, and finished her studies at the Zürich Musikhochshcule with Prof. Zakhar Bron.

Tamaki Kawakubo plays on a 1779 Giovanni Battista Guadagnini kindly on loan from the S&R Foundation in Washington D.C.
