Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, pianist and composer, Stewart Goodyear began his training at Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, received a bachelor’s degree from Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and completed a Masters Degree at Juilliard School of Music in New York. Now calling New York his home, Stewart has performed with the major orchestras of the world, including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, among many.
Mr Goodyear’s style has strength and drama, elegant and exquisite technique and great emotional depth.
Stewart’s repertoire ranges from Bach to Messiaen, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Gershwin. Known as an improviser and a composer, he has been commissioned by orchestras and chamber music organizations, and performs his own solo works. In 2010, Mr Goodyear performed at a sold out recital of Beethoven Sonatas in Toronto’s new Koerner Hall. The Middle Sonatas were recently released as a two disc set on the Marquis Label.
