Early career achievements were plentiful for pianist Karen Beluso, putting her on a path that never slowed. She made her orchestral debut at age twelve with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C that led to an appearance with the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony. This was followed by a Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Youth Symphony, in a performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 while still a teenager, earmarking her as an artist whose “technique and innate skill proved every bit as good as her ability to understand the language and diction of Chopin. The work came alive with a seldom-heard freshness.”

After her Carnegie debut she began receiving invitations to perform from almost every corner of the globe: Costa Rica, the Philippines, Switzerland, Taiwan, California, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, D.C.—all of which led to even more accolades from critics and audiences alike.

After earning Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees, all from Juilliard, she expanded her career to include work in both Music Education and Arts Administration. Over a span of several years she became Department Head of Performing Arts at Portledge School in Locust Valley, NY, a faculty member at the C.W. Post Summer Chamber Music Festival, and Director of Education and Community Engagement for the Long Island Philharmonic.

Another turning point in her career came when she worked with violinist and United Nations’ Goodwill Ambassador Jourdan Urbach, who was performing as part of Association Television International’s Hero Awards at Universal Studios. He was being honored on a nationally televised event for work done through his own charity, Children Helping Children (now known as Concerts for a Cure), and Dr. Beluso was called in to collaborate with him. “Five years later we are still working together, and I could not ask for a better colleague.” Her many performances with Urbach, coupled with her own solo work and managerial responsibilities, continue to make for a very full calendar.

An array of upcoming events include performances at Carnegie Hall, lectures, seminars, music festivals, and her ongoing work at Steinway. She has already begun spearheading initiatives as part of her position on the executive board of The Alexander & Buono Foundation, and continues fulfilling engagements that are part of her 2013 calendar.
