The New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) orchestra continues its 53rd season with an afternoon of romantic virtuosity on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Carnegie Hall, Stern Auditorium/Perelman stage, 881 7th Avenue, New York at 2 PM. The program will open with the world premiere of Strange Sounds and Explosions Worldwide composed by Tonia Ko, winner of a First Musiccommission from the NYYS. The Roy and Shirley Durst Debut Artist Steven Lin will then join the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s darkly energetic piano concerto. Rachmaninoff’s dramatic Symphonic Dances will close the program. Music Director Joshua Gersen will conduct this ensemble of 115 student musicians ages 12 to 22.
