Over $220,000 was raised at the NYYS annual benefit on October 22 at the Tribeca Rooftop. 250 people enjoyed cocktails, dinner and dancing featuring the NYYS Jazz Band directed by Matt Holman. The Theodore S. Kesselman Award for Arts Education was presented to Executive & Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall, Clive Gillinson.
About the Honoree and Award:
Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall, started his career as a cellist in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. He has since grown into a strong advocate of accessible programing, and youth outreach. Mr. Gillinson has worked to build upon the quality, creativity, and diversity for which Carnegie Hall is widely known.
The Theodore L. Kesselman Award for Arts Education was established in 1995 to recognize significant dedication by an individual or institution making outstanding contributions in nurturing young people in the arts. The award is named in the memory of Theodore L. Kesselman, who served as NYYS Board President from 1985 to 1994.
