Musicians are expected to attend each orchestra event,
including rehearsals, sectionals, performances, and
special events.
Consistent attendance is essential in order to maintain a high
quality musical experience for everyone. Absences are
detrimental to the orchestra's progress and
counterproductive to each member's personal development. Absence should thus be limited except in the most urgent instances. A
student who is absent more than five times during the season will be dismissed. It is the
organization's policy to apply these guidelines fairly but
strictly in order to maintain musical integrity and to minimize
disruption. This policy
was drafted and authorized by a committee comprised of orchestra personnel, parents,
and the musicians themselves.
It is orchestral policy to leave to each player's discretion
when and how often such absences may occur. This discretion,
however, demands individual responsibility. It is each
musician's responsibility to set priorities for his or her participation
with regard to other schedules.

Members should attend every orchestra event, including all rehearsals, sectionals, performances, and special events.
Consistent attendance is essential to maintain a high quality musical experience for all. Absences of any kind are detrimental
to the entire orchestra’s progress, counterproductive to each musician’s personal development, and should thus be limited to
the most serious cases. A student who is absent more than five times for any reason within the concert season will be dismissed
from the program. In addition, if a student misses more than two rehearsals within a single concert period he/she will be dismissed
regardless of the five permissible absences.
It is the organization’s policy to apply these guidelines fairly but strictly in order to maintain musical integrity and to minimize
disruption by those who have attendance lapses. This policy was determined by a committee of orchestra personnel, parents, and
students.
It is orchestral policy to leave to each player’s discretion when and how often such infractions occur. This freedom,
however, demands individual responsibility. It is the musician’s responsibility to prioritize his or her participation with regard to
other schedules. Please review the schedule for possible conflicts.
While some absences may be unavoidable, they are acceptable only in the rarest of cases. The attendance policy allows for such
absences, but it is expected that each player should avoid all but the most serious kind. Each musician is strongly urged not to
miss any rehearsal except in the most pressing circumstance.
